RECONCILIATION

div

Reconciliation (Penance) is the experience of celebrating and receiving forgiveness for sins from our loving Lord.

Reconciliation is celebrated individually each Saturday at 4:00 p.m. The reconciliation room is in the east part of the church. Arrangements to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation can also be made by appointment by calling Father Mark Herzog (419)693-1150.

Preparation for First Reconciliation, along with parental support, will focus on helping a child to develop a personal relationship with God, learn to distinguish between moral right and wrong, and to know the difference between a mistake and an accident. The class will teach the child that sin is a deliberate, non-loving action or omission. The child will learn what it means to be truly sorry for the sin and express sorrow for it, and become comfortable with the procedure of going to confession. The child must be attending our C3L parish formation program with their family. Classes for Reconciliation are outside the times of our C3L monthly program. There are 6 classes that will be required for the child to attend. Classes will be in the fall with First Reconciliation following.

Children will celebrate their First Reconciliation during our Parish Advent Penance Service in December. They will attend the service with their families. All parishioners are welceome to attend. First Reconciliation class and the reception of First Reconciliation must be completed before the child can receive First Eucharist. To register for classes please contact our Christian Formation office at 419-693-7662.
