Eucharist is the daily nourishment for the Catholic Christian life and Mass is celebrated nearly every day. Eucharist is the source and summit of Catholic life. For Mass times please see Liturgical Celebrations listed at the top of this page.

First Eucharist Classes
For the child to get the most out of the classes the parents are to be actively involved in their child's preparation. It is beneficial to your child for you to role model good sacramental practices in Reconciliation and Eucharist.

To receive Eucharist the child must have completed their preparation for First Reconciliation and celebrated their First Penance. Eucharist classes will begin in the winter and there will be 6 sessions. Books and registration for this is separate from C3L .But continued attendance at C3L is still required. First Eucharist preparation will end with a parent/child retreat. First Communion will be celebrated on the first Sunday in May. More information on this will be given at the parent meeting before class begins.

To be eligible for First Penance/Eucharist, a child and family must be attending C3L for two years. This is normally done in 1st and 2nd grades, though occasionally a child who is older and may attend the class as well. They would also need to attend C3L with their family for two years in addition to Eucharist classes. In order to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist the child must be baptized any child who was not baptized at St. Ignatius will need to provide a copy of their baptism certificate by the end of January of the Sacramental year.

First Eucharist preparation will help a child to gain an understanding of who Jesus is, including Jesus' life, death and resurrection. They will learn the difference between ordinary bread and the Eucharist. It is impossible for the catechist to know the child as well as do the parents, so a two pronged effort, parent and parish, is needed for the best preparation.
